Steps to Complete Week 5 Lab
Use the Weeks 3 and 5 spreadsheets from the Weeks 3 and 5 Lessons to help you answer the questions below.
Step 1: Your instructor will provide you with 10 values to use for this lab.
Gather 10 MORE of your own to add to the 10 provided by your instructor. Do the following:
Survey or measure 10 people to find their heights. Determine the mean and standard deviation for the 20 values by using the Week 3 Excel spreadsheet. Post a screen shot of the portion of the spreadsheet that helped you determine these values. How does your height compare to the mean (average) height of the 20 values? Is your height taller, shorter, or the same as the mean of the sample?
Note: The following image is just an example. They are NOT the values you should be using for your lab. Your instructor should have sent you our data values for your Week 5 Lab. Please reach out to your instructor if you do not have your data values.
Data Example of 10 people with different heights
Data Example of 10 people with different heights
(your spreadsheet will have 20 values—10 from your instructor and 10 from your own data gathering).
Step 2: Give some background information on the group of people you used in your study. You might consider using the following questions to guide your answer.
How did you choose the participants for your study? What was the sampling method: systematic, convenience, cluster, stratified, simple random?
What part of the country did your study take place in?
What are the age ranges of your participants?
How many of each gender did you have in your study?
What are other interesting factors about your group?
Step 3: Use the Week 5 Excel spreadsheet for the following.
(Use the Empirical Rule tab from the spreadsheet). Determine the 68%, 95%, and 99.7% values of the Empirical Rule in terms of the 20 heights in your height study.
What do these values tell you?
Post a screen shot of your work from the Week 5 Excel spreadsheet.
Week 5 Spreadsheet Example
(Use the normal probability tab from the spreadsheet). Based on your study results, what percent of the study participants are shorter than you? What percent are taller than you?
Post a screen shot of your work from the Week 5 Excel spreadsheet.
Example: If my height is 73 inches, then 20.86% of the relevant population is shorter. The other 79.14%, of course, is taller.
Week 5 Spreadsheet Example
Step 4: Be sure your name is on the Word document, save it, and then submit it under “Assignments” and “Week 5: Lab”.
Grading
This activity will be graded based on the Week 5 Lab Rubric.

Practical learning experiences are a large part of the didactic portion of the L

Practical learning experiences are a large part of the didactic portion of the LPN to BSN nursing program. These experiences rely on the adult learning theory to be successful. The practice learning experience (PLE) logs assist the student to achieve student learning outcomes, course outcomes, and understanding of patients across the lifespan. Student practical learning hours are required documentation during this course. A minimum of 16 hours of practical learning experience is required. All nine of the program outcomes listed in your course syllabus should be addressed within those 16 hours. In module 8, you will submit your log for faculty review. The end goal is to demonstrate how you met the SLOs for this course. Consider how you may have met these outcomes differently compared to your other nursing courses previously.
Please note the Practical Learning Experience Log provided here for your convenience. Please use this form and do not turn in a handwritten one.
The practical learning hours are related to the course objectives and student learning outcomes. You can find these in your course syllabus. Each student will log separate hours per course. *You are not to re-use your hours from one course to another, because the research hours are designed around your specific final course project and student learning outcomes. You may use hours from your place of employment, but cannot be acting as an employee of a facility and as a student of a university simultaneously. Students, most of your hours should come from collaboration and research that is built into your final course project. Please keep in mind that these are not traditional clinical hours spent in a facility providing patient care. These hours are to be considered learning experiences. The focus is geared toward learning from collaboration among healthcare professionals, stakeholders, and research within the course final project. Please note that this is not direct patient care hours from your place of employment.
The learning experiences should be course specific and meet the objectives related to the course. Please contact your instructor if you have further questions or concerns.

What barriers are in place and how would you go about recognizing those?

Week Seven Pathophysiology Paper’s Assignment
You will now add a teaching plan to this project. This plan will include the hospitalized AND discharged patient. Be sure to use the patient resources you found in the previous assignments such as support groups, include “usual” medications and treatments (physical therapy, home health, hospice, etc).
The preferred method is to include this section within your paper, however this section may be added as an appendix if that improves the flow and understanding of the document. Remember you are currently LPNs BUT this assignment is in the scope of practice for a BSN and will be submitted as if the RN is teaching the plan.
The teaching plan will reflect a BSN level of teaching per OBN scope of practice. A successful teaching plan will be individualized to the chosen patho and include home and hospital care.
Include who you are teaching (patient, family, child, spouse?). How do you evaluate their learning needs? What barriers are in place and how would you go about recognizing those? What method do you use, tools for teaching? Where do you get the tools? How do you evaluate if your teaching is successful?
These are questions that you should attempt to answer in your teaching plan.
You will need to add at least one reference from the SWOSU online library that has been published in the last 5 years and has not already been used for previous patho paper submissions. Add this to the content of your previous submission. This will be your finalized paper so make any edits needed prior to submission.

However, she states they weren’t too much of a problem and those resolved a couple years ago.

Scenario: You are evaluating a 53-year-old white female who wants to talk to you about lab work that she had done recently at “Any Lab Test Now”.
She wanted to have lab work done because she was feeling tired and unmotivated. Additionally, she had put on about 15 pounds even though she has been teaching yoga 2-3 times a week for the last few years.
The lab results reveal a TSH of 93.
She reports her last menstrual period was about 3 years ago. She experienced some menopausal symptoms of hot flashes and night sweats. However, she states they weren’t too much of a problem and those resolved a couple years ago.
She denies any difficulty swallowing or neck pain/tenderness.
Constitutional exam: 5’5” tall, 154 pounds, BP 145/88, P 60, R 16, Temp 97.2
Neck – nontender, mild goiter with right side of thyroid larger than the left side
Heart – regular rhythm without murmur or gallop
Lungs – clear
Skin – dry on extremities with some flaking noted
A slowness of the relaxation phase of the Achilles tendon reflex is noted
Please develop a discussion that responds to each of the following prompts. Where appropriate your discussion needs to be supported by scholarly resources. Be sure to include in-text citations in the context of the discussion and provide a full reference citation at the end of the discussion.
Initial post
Utilize the information provided in the scenario to create your discussion post.
Construct your response as an abbreviated SOAP note (Subjective Objective Assessment Plan).
Structure your ‘P’ in the following format: [NOTE: if any of the 3 categories is not applicable to your plan please use the ‘heading’ and after the ‘:’ input N/A]
Therapeutics: pharmacologic interventions, if any – new or revisions to existing; include considerations for OTC agents (pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic/alternative); [optional – any other therapies in lieu of pharmacologic intervention]
Educational: health information clients need to address their presenting problem(s); health information in support of any of the ‘therapeutics’ identified above; information about follow-up care where appropriate; provision of anticipatory guidance and counseling during the context of the office visit
Consultation/Collaboration: if appropriate – collaborative ‘Advanced Care Planning’ with the patient/patient’s care giver; if appropriate -placing the patient in a Transitional Care Model for appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic care; if appropriate – consult with or referral to another provider while the patient is still in the office; Identification of any future referral you would consider making
Support the interventions outlined in your ‘P’ with scholarly resources.
Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.
